Heather Cusick (she/her) is the Global Warming program officer for the Morgan Family Foundation. In this part-time role she engages with organizations and communities throughout Minnesota to understand opportunities for mitigating global warming and manages the related grantmaking process, working closely with nonprofit grant applicants and grantee partners. Heather brings a deep knowledge of climate change particularly from rural and agricultural perspectives, as well as within the electric sector including electric co-ops. Recently she has focused on consulting for foundations and other collaboratives in the climate space. With significant experience in advocacy and organizing work, Heather held several positions of increasing responsibility at the Sierra Club. There she played a pivotal role in designing and executing the Beyond Coal Campaign, which retired over half of the coal-burning plants in the US and blocked proposed national coal plant expansion. She has a law degree from the Mitchell Hamline School of Law and received a Bush Fellowship to transition professionally to work at the intersection of climate, equity and natural and working lands. A native of Kansas, she resides in Minneapolis and enjoys gardening in her spare time.
